Tony Makuch

President and CEO, Kirkland Lake Gold

Tony Makuch is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Kirkland Lake Gold. Prior to joining Kirkland Lake Gold in July 2016, Tony was the Chief Executive Officer of Lake Shore Gold Corp and was largely instrumental in building Lake Shore Gold from a junior explorer to a low-cost gold producer with quality operations.  Tony has a proven track record of leadership in the gold mining industry. Kirkland Lake Gold, under Tony’s leadership along a with strong management team, is creating significant value for its shareholders through its portfolio of high-grade, low-cost assets in two of the greatest mining jurisdictions in the world – Canada and Australia.  Tony holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, and both a Masters of Science Degree in Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration from Queen’s University in Ontario.

George Hemingway

Managing Partner and Head of Innovation Practice, Stratalis

George Hemingway is Managing Partner and leads the Innovation Practice at Stratalis where he advises the leaders of companies, organizations and countries on the future and how to succeed in uncertain times. Considered one of the leading futurists in the mining industry, he regularly keynotes at venues ranging from the World Mining Congress to NASA and the Pentagon.

He has advised many of the world’s leading natural resource and industrial companies, ranging from Vale, Anglo American and BHP to BASF and the Air Force on how their operations and organizations can best pivot and transform to succeed.

In addition to corporate boards, he is passionate about supporting the next generation of leaders as a board member to the Chamber Orchestra of New York, Moon Mark Aerospace and the Lassonde Institute of Mining at the University of Toronto. He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS from the Stern School of Business at NYU.

Other keynote speakers will be from mining companies who are already incorporating many of these new technologies into their current operations and are looking for more. We will supplement these keynote events with presentations and panels from innovative industry leaders who can provide solutions.
